Dear Voters of the 17th Senate District,

Because of you, I was able to reach out to thousands of voters in California’s 17th State Senate district. I received almost 45% of the vote – more than 123,000 votes. Although that was not enough to win the seat, I believe it’s the best showing by a Democrat in the 17th district in decades.

AND, Barack Obama won the presidency! I’m so thankful for that.

I appreciate your confidence in me and your willingness to support me and many other Democrats.

As we go forward, I hope you will continue to address the numerous challenges that will face us in the coming months and support some of the many worthy causes available.
